Terms of sale

What you are buying, what stays with the artist, and what happens if something goes wrong.

The work

Every painting offered here is an original oil painting, made by hand by Yelena “Lena” Sugralinova. It exists once. No edition, no reproduction, no print is offered of any work, and none will be.

Each painting is sold with a signed certificate of authenticity stating the title, year, medium, support and dimensions, with a photograph of the work.

What transfers when you buy

You buy the physical object: the painting itself. Copyright and all reproduction rights stay with the artist, which is the ordinary position under United States law and is not a special condition of this studio.

In practice that means you may hang the work, lend it, resell it or leave it to someone. You may photograph it in your home and share that photograph. You may not make prints, merchandise or any commercial reproduction of the image.

The artist keeps the right to photograph the work and to use those photographs for portfolio, exhibition entry, press and teaching. If a work leaves for a collection, its page stays on this site as part of the record, marked as sold.

Price and payment

Prices are shown on each artwork page in United States dollars and do not include sales tax where it applies, or international shipping, duty and import charges.

A purchase begins with an enquiry, not a checkout. Once the work is agreed, the studio issues an invoice. Payment is by card or bank transfer, in full, before the painting ships. The work is reserved for you from the moment the invoice is issued and for seven days after.

Title and risk

Ownership passes to you when payment clears in full. Risk passes on delivery: while the painting is in transit it is insured by the studio for the full purchase price.

Delivery, damage and returns

These are set out in full on the shipping and returns page, and form part of these terms. In short: the work ships from Florida, carriage and insurance are agreed with you in writing before payment, and sales are final — the studio does not accept returns or exchanges. Damage in transit must be reported the day the work arrives, with photographs, and with the packaging kept.

If a payment is disputed

If you have a problem with a purchase, write to the studio first. Nearly everything is solved in an email. A chargeback raised without contacting the studio, on a work that was delivered as described, will be contested with the delivery record and the signed receipt.

Commissions

The studio does not accept commissioned work. Only the paintings listed on the site are available.

The historical portrait studies

The archive of historical portrait studies is not for sale, in any form, including prints. It is published as a record of technical training. Enquiries about buying those works cannot be accepted.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States.
